Bayfront Park
Bayfront Park, Longboat Key is a scenic park that has lots to offer now after major recent renovations. It will take you just a few minutes to get to the park from Casa Del Mar, and once you arrive you’ll find plenty of amenities including a dog park, playground, fishing piers, and a kayak launch. The public park is a recreation area run by the Town of Longboat Key.
This popular facility is now frequented by people who live on Longboat Key as well as those who are visiting on vacation. The recent more than $3-million renovations have left this beloved park more beautiful than ever. After more than a year of work, the park has been transformed. You will now find nature trails to explore, plus bigger fishing docks, and a fun and safe new playground perfect for the whole family.
There are lots of options to explore at Bayfront Park—making this an ideal spot for any day on Longboat Key. The recreation center offers an activity room, plus there is a basketball court, shuffleboard courts, and a multi-purpose field that can be used for soccer or softball, and tennis courts as well. The sports courts here are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. It’s not necessary to reserve a court but they are on a first come, first serve basis.
The kayak docks are particularly fun if you are visiting Bayfront Park and enjoy kayaking. You can bring your own and launch them right into the water, or even choose to rent some for the day. There is a bayside beach launch and a floatable dock launch, a spot to wash your kayak, and more. Public storage rentals are even available if you’d like to keep your kayak right at Bayfront Park. The spots are available for a fee and are rented out by an annual lottery draw.
Not only does Bayfront Park include several amenities for you to explore, there are also frequent events that are hosted here. Everything from organized and leisure sports, to educational programs, cultural fairs, and other special events can be found throughout the year.
There are even year-round fitness classes you can sign up for offer at the Bayfront Park recreation center. Everything from cardio and strength, to yoga and stretching, can be found on the schedule.
The dog park here is the first of it’s kind and is open from sunrise to sunset, but is closed on Mondays. All dogs must be current on their vaccinations and wear a license tag. The dog park is sectioned off to accommodate both large dogs, and smaller more fragile dogs too.
Additionally, you can also choose a picnic table or reserve a spot at Bayfront Park for birthday parties, picnics, and family gatherings.
Even more is yet to come for this premier park. The gulf side phase of the project will include beach access and even an observation deck that is handicap accessible.
