Choose the Right Bayfront Park
This guide is for 4052 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key, not the similarly named park in downtown Sarasota. The Town's facility listing gives general park hours of 5 AM–11 PM. Individual facilities have their own hours and restrictions; check notices before setting out.
Courts, Play and a Picnic
The Town lists basketball, pickleball, shuffleboard and tennis courts, a playground, picnic tables, restrooms and an indoor recreation center. Choose an activity that suits your group, bring the equipment you need and leave time to enjoy the bay views.
Under the Town's court rules, play is first-come, first-served from 7 AM–10 PM; individuals cannot reserve a court. Posted time limits are one hour for singles and an hour and a half for doubles. Court lights operate from 5–10 PM in November through April, so plan daylight play in turtle season rather than relying on the general park closing time.
For a family outing, choose a playground or picnic visit with an optional court session instead of promising everyone a scheduled game. The park is bayside; public Gulf beach access is across Gulf of Mexico Drive. Treat that as a separate stop and use designated crossings. Check the Town's listing for facilities and any access notices on the day.
Dog Park: Separate Hours and Rules
The Town lists the dog park as open sunrise to sunset, with a Monday closure from 1–4 PM. Dogs must be leashed entering and leaving, and owners should read the full vaccination, supervision and cleanup rules. The dog park does not make every park area pet-friendly, and it does not change Casa Del Mar's resort rules.
Kayak Launch and Recreation Programs
The Town describes a bayside beach launch, floating-dock launch and wash station, with launch hours from sunrise to sunset. Consult its launch and recreation information for current services, storage and class arrangements. Confirm equipment rentals separately; this guide does not reserve a kayak, court or activity.
