A Place in the 2015 Top Ten
Longboat Key placed ninth among U.S. island destinations in Condé Nast Traveler's 2015 Readers' Choice Awards. The Longboat Observer's October 28, 2015 report recorded the result and the local response. Amelia Island also appeared in that year's top ten.
The report described the magazine's interest in Longboat Key's beaches and shell-lined shore, and included a response from the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce. This was recognition of the island as a destination, not a rating of an individual rental or resort.
